1 Year Anniversary! :)

Saturday was our 1 year anniversary! Clear back in December, I planned a surprise for Marc :) It was up in Park City, so we decided to go camping nearby. This is the Jordanelle State park campground, and we had a great site! It was really nice and we had a lot of fun.

Just up the hill across from our campsite was the bathroom/showers. We needed to wake up at 5 am in order to shower and get to our surprise on time. That night, I did not sleep well at all! I was really excited, and the neighboring campsite had a ton of annoying people. They stayed up until at least 1:30 or 2:00 am! They were SO loud, and it was also very very cold. Between those two things, I couldn't fall asleep until about 2 in the morning. 5 am was not very happy! And to make matters worse, at first the shower was very cold, and then all of a sudden it was scalding hot! It was so hot that the water almost felt cold because it was burning our skin. Needless to say, we did not shower the next morning! :)

Next to the bathrooms they had a playground! Talk about crazy! That is not the type of camping that I am used to.

Behind our tent there was a little stream that went down to the lake. It was fun because we could hear it a night when we were falling asleep.

This was the first time that we used our new tent! It was a wedding gift :)

SURPRISE!!! We went on a hot air balloon ride! We had to meet somewhere at 6:30 in the morning, and then we went to where they were setting up the balloons. It was SO cold outside. They took these huge fans and blew cold air into the balloons to fill them up. I feel bad for the people who are holding the flaps open.

This is our balloon! It was red with yellow stars on the side, and a big smiley face on the very top!

Once the balloon was completely full of cold air, they began to fill it with the hot air from the flame. This made the balloon stand up, and then all of the people had to hurry and climb in so that they could go.

Marc decided to leave his coat in the car, so he was freezing! Poor guy

While the fans were blowing the cold air, one of the crew members was inside the balloon moving around the balloon fabric so that it would keep inflating. I bet he was freezing also!

Here is my only complaint for the day. They said that our balloon held 10 people. They had two 3-person slots, and two 2-person slots. We climbed into one of the 3 person ones, and then another couple climbed in even though there wasn't room for all four of us. Then one of the crew embers came and told us that one of us needed to go across to the other 3-person slot, and the other couple wouldn't move! Rude! So Marc had to get out and we weren't quite next to each other, but we were still close enough to talk to each other and point things out. So it really wasn't that bad, just a bit annoying. We are about to take off now! :)

This is one of the propane tanks that were on it. This one was between Marc and I. There were 3 propane tanks on it, and they were full of liquid propane instead of propane gas.

And we are off! We are flying up over the vans that drove us over there. The crew members drove the vans to where we would land so that they could load up the balloon and then take us back to our cars.

I liked that I could see our reflection in the water :)

The red and black balloon ended up having 2 holes in it! It never took off. I feel bad for the people who were supposed to go on that one. At the last second, they put one lady from that group into ours.

The bigger balloon was a new one, so it was bright and shiny still. Our pilot, Wild Bill, told us that in about 6 weeks it wouldn't look that new and shiny anymore.

Beautiful Park City! It was so incredible to see everything from up high.

Bill told us that this little building used to be a pony express stop.

This was as close as we could get to a picture of us together on the balloon. It was awkward, and it looks funny, but it is still us up there! :)

We are about to land in this picture. Apparently you can't steer balloons at all! The only thing that our pilot could do  to control it is to rotate the way the basket is facing, but that does not change where you go. At the last second, our balloon went left and we landed in a random field. Luckily it had a gate to it that was unlocked!

After we were on the ground, but before we got out, they pulled on a rope that squished up the face. Wild Bill said that it made him look angry! It helped the air escape so that we didn't float up anymore.

While the crew packed up the balloon, everyone else took pictures and visited.

I only took this picture so that everyone could see Wild Bill. He was crazy, but really nice and knowledgeable. He has been flying for over 30 years and has a perfect record! Impressive!

One of the other balloons landed in a grassy area right by a little outlet mall! It was marshy and wet for the poor crew members who had to roll it all up.

For lunch that day we went to an Italian place along main street. We spent a few hours walking up and down that street. It was way fun!

Back at camp, we went on a walk around the lake. There was some crazy looking guy paddling himself :)

We walked around and then decided to skip rocks! It was fun

Marc took this picture, and I look a little ridiculous! My rock did not skip :) haha

On the way back we saw some ducks!

Marc tried to chop the wood, but something was not working right. Either our cheap walmart hatchet was no good, or the wood was too hard. Either way, it just did not chop up.

Just before we left on Sunday morning, we saw some crazy looking animal! Anyone know what it is? We thought it was a beaver, but Marc said that it didn't really have a tail.

This is the certificate that we got at the end of our balloon ride!
We had such an awesome anniversary! It was relaxing and really awesome! I think that everyone should go on a hot air balloon ride at some point :) It was worth the money and also the early wake up. I am so grateful that we got married a year ago! It has been the best year of my life :) I am so blessed to have Marc for a husband. He is so good to me and I love him so much more now than I did when we got married! 1 year down, eternity to go :)
This video is of one of the balloons taking off. The loud noise that you hear is from the fans that are blowing cold air into our balloon.
The point of this video was for you to hear how loud it was when the flames were going. Sorry that I moved the camera so fast! When I watched it over again I realized that it was way too fast. We are close to landing in this video.
